My Lung Cancer Summary
November 3, 2011:
I hope the following story helps other people facing cancer and also I hope it helps those who are close to anyone with cancer. I want to shout this from the rooftops because there are so many people who are so weak and sick during their chemo treatments and have no idea what to do about their nutritional support.
I was diagnosed with lung cancer (March, 2011). I am just over 60 years old. I immediately started taking a lot of GNLD whole-food supplements, some at triple dose, some at twice dose and some at regular dose, dividing the doses in half and taking them 12 hours apart from the first week of March until I started treatments in June.
The staging process took over three months (I would explain why it took so long, but that subject is a whole story in itself and this one is long enough!) but I was able to get a good nutritional start during that time since I was not on any medications and did not have any dietary restrictions. At the end of the staging process, they diagnosed me at stage 4A.
During the three and a half months I was going through tests, the lung cancer did not spread. Once I started the chemo treatments there were some supplements I stopped taking because I could not find out enough information about how they would work with the medications.
I finished my fourth round of chemo in September and have had two "maintenance" treatments as of this writing. The maintenance treatments are to keep it from spreading, not to reduce it or kill it. (They didn't get it all with the chemo because after a time the cancer tumors develop a resistance to the chemo drugs -- so they go until they don't get much results anymore and then put you on maintenance.) They were able to reduce it to about 1/4 of what it was. Anyway, I have been taking all my GNLD products regularly since my last chemo treatment in September and the remainder of the tumor CONTINUED to shrink!
Also, I had my teeth cleaned and had my 6 month check up October 19th. Chemo is really bad on calcium and depletes your body of calcium. The dental hygienist said her mother had a cleaning and check up after her second chemo treatment and they found 10 cavities -- she said before her cancer that her mother rarely ever got any cavities (mother of a dental hygienist...). She was really impressed that I had NONE! I have been on GNLD's Chelated Cal-Mag® (calcium/magnesium) w/1,000 u Vitamin D3 (regular dose) since last March -- started chemo in June and ended chemo in Sept and all that time, NO CAVITIES! Stubbed my toe so hard I thought I dislocated it -- it didn't break or shatter. So also my bone density is great.
October 20th I had a maintenance treatment and the study nurse said that my blood work never has come back with any red flags. She said all throughout my treatments I have been the only study subject with no red flags on their blood work. I have maintained all my RBC, WBC and hemoglobin level counts along with everything else in the lab draws.
I went for my regular follow up treatment with my family doctor October 27th and he told me I am the healthiest lung cancer patient he has ever run across.
I never lost my hair or my appetite and I gained 32 pounds.
I have not missed a lick. October 6 - 9 I went to a music festival in Oklahoma for four days and camped out in a tent with two of my Pekingese. I have maintained all my yard work all summer and house work without missing much -- maybe only a day a month -- the day after treatment I take it easy. I have loaded & hauled manure, loaded & hauled mulch, textured my living room ceiling, painted my walls, kept the yard raked, hung my laundry on the line, kept up with 6 Pekingese and a man, and kept my house clean (as I found the time) and kept my GNLD business running and signed up new distributors every month.
When I found out I had lung cancer, I started taking the following every day:
Remember, it is not the ingredients, it is the formulas that are effective.
As long as I was not yet on any medications, I continued this regiment for three and a half months until they got me into treatment. It gave me a great nutritional start and built me up to better be able to handle the chemo drugs. I also have been drinking about a gallon of water a day.
NOTE: I do not drink bottled water unless that is all that is available. I try to drink only filtered water using a triple carbon filter, not reverse osmosis. Reverse Osmosis (RO) filter systems remove all the minerals naturally occurring in spring water. If these minerals are not present, your body will draw them out of your tissues. If you are drinking RO water you need to supplement with a multi-mineral supplement to replace those minerals to keep your electrolyte balance proper and to ensure that you are not sacrificing minerals from your cells and bones.
As I mentioned before, for three and a half months while they were putting me through all the staging process, and until they got me into chemo treatments, my lung cancer did not spread. Once the chemo treatments were started, I cut back on some of the supplements because I couldn't find out enough information on how they would react to the chemo chemicals. I did quit the herbs, the Vitamin E Plus, Salmon Oil Plus, Chelated Zinc, Betagard, TRE' Pomegranate Juice, and Aloe Vera Juice during treatments, but I continued on all the rest of the supplements. (GNLD's Betagard® should not be taken by anyone on medications because it removes the chemicals from your cells.)
The oncologist nurse told me I could not take any Green Tea during treatments or I would have stayed on the TRE' Pomegranate Juice and Aloe Vera Juice. Later I learned that Green Tea helps the cells fight the cancer so I could have stayed on these two products but I wanted to follow the clinic's directions. I have been spending about $300 to $500 a month on GNLD whole-food supplements (at distributor cost) but it is WORTH IT as you can see.
Three weeks after my treatments were over, I went back on all of it again and I will continue this for a year at least and then will decide what to do after that. I think I could have taken the Vitamin E Plus and Salmon Oil Plus all along but I decided to just wait. If your blood is thick or thin, natural vitamin E will regulate it, so I quit taking the Vitamin E Plus just before my biopsy surgery in April. Salmon Oil Plus will help your blood flow freely and reduces inflammation -- I don't know why I quit taking it during treatments.
I continued to take the Acidophilus Plus™ and the Beta-Zyme® Digestive Aid because all cancer patients are deficient in digestive enzymes, particularly pancreatic enzymes and acidophilus -- mainly why it is so hard for cancer patients to digest protein. Prescription drugs kill all your good flora, too.
GNLD WHOLE-FOOD SUPPLEMENTS ARE AWESOME!
If you are on any medications you should always check with your doctor before taking any supplements and make sure there are no dietary restrictions. Most doctors are not schooled in nutrition so they might just tell you to quit all supplements just because they don't know enough about them. GNLD whole-food supplements do not contain any toxic chemicals so they are okay as long as you don't have any dietary restrictions because they are just like eating a plate of food without the water -- I cannot speak for isolated vitamins you get from Walgreens, Walmart, the herb shop, etc. However, always do prudent research on any herbs you are looking at taking because herbs are like medicine.
You have to do your own research and do what you feel is right for you. Also remember, you get what you pay for -- cheap is not better, it is less effective (sometimes ineffective) so you have to take more of them (so it actually costs more) and you also have to take antioxidants to get rid of any toxins that are in the cheap vitamins. If they are synthetic you will get no results and the chemicals might interfere with your medications. Don't skimp on your health. I learned -- I should have been paying more attention to my diet years ago.
